WCC exists to take the Gospel to all people, transform hearts to be like Christ, and train disciples to make disciples.
Take the Gospel

Take the Gospel

The word “Gospel” means “Good News,” but to understand it, we first need to hear the bad news.

God created people to worship and walk with Him, but everyone—starting with the first humans—rejected Him. This rejection is called sin.

Sin isn’t just lying, stealing, or doing bad things—it’s a deep, heart-level turning away from God. Every selfish choice, every time we hurt others, is a sign of this. The bad news is all of us have sinned, and sin separates us from God.

Sin has a consequence—death.

Now for the Good News!

Transform Hearts

Transform Hearts

Jesus Christ died to pay the penalty for our sins!

God’s love sent His Son, Jesus, to live on earth as a man. Jesus lived a perfect life, always following God’s will. On the cross, He took the punishment for all who turn from their sin and trust in Him.

Three days later, God raised Jesus from the dead, proving His sacrifice was accepted and that His wrath against us was satisfied. Jesus is alive today, calling you to believe and receive the salvation He offers.

Before ascending to Heaven, Jesus promised to send a Helper—the Holy Spirit—to guide, convict, and empower us to turn to God.

So how do we respond to this Good News of Jesus?

Train Disciples

Train Disciples

How to respond to the Good News of Jesus:

1. Believe and Accept – Trust that Jesus died and rose again, and that His perfect sacrifice fully removes your sin.

2. Confess – Tell others you are choosing Christ. As the Apostle Paul says, anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

3. Repent and Be Baptized – Follow Peter’s instruction: turn from your sins, be baptized for forgiveness, and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Now what?

Responding to the Gospel means that you now have the promise of forgiveness and eternal life.

At Wilmington Church of Christ we believe that your belief, confession, repentance and baptism are just the beginning of your restored relationship with God.

You can actually get to know God more intimately through Jesus; you can mature in your spirituality by learning to obey all that Jesus teaches—and as a disciple (that means follower of Jesus)—you have a responsibility to baptize and train someone else

That's part of the mission we embrace at Wilmington Church of Christ: train disciples to make disciples.
